Rodeo Protests in Glens Falls

The Adirondack Stampede Charity Rodeo will be at the Glens Falls Civic Center in a couple of weeks.  We hope you’ll join us for a protest both nights before the show.

Protest Schedule:
Friday, November 5th AND Saturday, November 6th
6:30PM
Glens Falls Civic Center
1 Civic Center Plaza
Glens Falls

Rodeos are horribly cruel events and the fact that this one in particular is raising money for charity does not make it acceptable. Terrified animals are routinely electroshocked, punched, taunted, injured and even killed. Animals are taunted and intentionally hurt, which causes them to buck, and ridden, chased, roped and thrown on the ground.

You can check it out yourself here: http://www.youtube.com/user/SHARKonlineorg#p/c/46BB675F2F737228/53/TKiNC-FjXec

Can’t make it to the protests?  You can still speak up for the animals by contacting the following businesses that are either sponsoring the rodeo or selling tickets to the rodeo.  Tell them that by doing so they are supporting cruelty to animals.  If enough people contact them, maybe they’ll think twice about it next time.

THE RODEO WILL BE HELD November 5th and 6th at the Glens Falls Civic Center:

Thanks for your support and we hope to see you at the protests!

NEW: Weekly Action Alerts

Each week we are going to be sharing contact information for an important action alert.  We’re hoping that you will take part in as many as possible. These are strictly email/letter/phone alerts.  You don’t need to be anywhere at any certain time to take part!

This week: Contact the DA in a local animal cruelty case.
Last month Robert Clow, of Brunswick, tied his girlfriend’s dog, Daisy, to a tree and shot her three times in the head.

The DA does not believe this should be prosecuted as a felony.

Buster’s Law (New York State’s Felony Animal Cruelty Law) states:

“A person is guilty of aggravated cruelty to animals when, with no justifiable purpose, he or she intentionally kills or intentionally causes serious physical injury to a companion animal with aggravated cruelty. For purposes of this section, ‘aggravated cruelty’ shall mean conduct which: is intended to cause extreme physical pain ***OR is done or carried out in an especially depraved or sadistic manner***.”

Chaining an innocent dog to a tree and shooting her three times in the head is depraved and sadistic.

Assemblyman Jim Tedisco (author of Buster’s Bill) and Valerie Lang (Rensselaer County Animal Protection Coalition) have both been trying to explain to DA McNally why this case should be prosecuted as a felony.

They need your help. Please take a moment to send a polite letter to the DA, explaining that this crime was depraved and sadistic, and asking that he charge this man with felony animal cruelty. (Quote the law above.)

Send your letters to:
Mr. Richard McNally, Esq.
District Attorney
Rensselaer County
80 Second Street
Troy, NY 12180

Here is a sample letter.  Please be sure to edit it and add your own comments.

Dear DA McNally,

Please reconsider the facts of the Robert Clow case. According to Section 353-a of Article 26 of the Agriculture and Markets Law relating to Cruelty to Animals (Buster’s Law), this crime should be prosecuted as a felony.
Mr. Clow tied his girlfriend’s dog to a tree and shot her three times in the head.

Buster’s Law states that, “A person is guilty of aggravated cruelty to animals when, with no justifiable purpose, he or she intentionally kills or intentionally causes serious physical injury to a companion animal with aggravated cruelty. For purposes of this section, ‘aggravated cruelty’ shall mean conduct which: is intended to cause extreme physical pain OR is done or carried out in an especially depraved or sadistic manner.”

While you may argue that Daisy may have died instantly, therefore not suffering extreme physical pain at the time she was killed, you cannot ignore the fact that this is a depraved and sadistic crime. There was absolutely no reason for Mr. Clow to tie her to a tree and shoot her in the head.

Please charge this man with felony animal cruelty.

Thank you.

Tell Rodeo Sponsors to Stop Supporting Cruelty

Please contact the following places and let them know that by supporting the Adirondack Stampede Charity Rodeo they are supporting cruelty. There are many other ways to raise money for charity without using and hurting innocent animals.
