Volunteers and College Students Needed

We need your help to gather more supporters and effectively share our message in the area.

Any big event such as a concert or sporting event, college campuses and busy areas of town are great opportunities for leafletting.  Handing out literature is really easy, especially if you enjoy interacting with others, and can make a big impact.  It’s true that some people will not even consider the information you’re giving them, however others will take that information home and really think about it and even make changes in their own lives.  The moral of the story is that you never know just how big of an impact you’re making.

If you’re interested in leafletting at local events/areas, email us at adkanimalrights@gmail.com.  We’ll provide literature if we can.  Contact us with any events and locations you think need our attention as well.

We’d also like to build up a base of volunteers at local college campuses to recruit supporters and publicize our events.  If you’re interested email us with your contact information and the name of the college you attend.

Northeast Animal Liberation Festival and Bold Native Screening

“My name is Charlie Cranehill. You’ll read about me in the news. See pictures of me with the word ‘terrorist’ after my name.”

Mark your calendars and join us May 7 at the Sanctuary for Independent Media for a vegan BBQ potluck and screening of Bold Native, the first full-length feature film about the animal liberation movement. Stay for a panel discussion and Q&A with Jenny Brown of Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary and Camille Hankins of Win Animal Rights and No Kill New York.

The event may replace our usual monthly potluck for either April or May, and unlike our usual potlucks, additional food will be provided so a dish is not mandatory, but will get you a discount on your door fee. As usual, dishes must be 100% vegan (no meat, dairy, eggs, honey).

Bold Native is a fiction feature film. Charlie Cranehill, an animal liberator wanted by the United States government for domestic terrorism, emerges from the underground to coordinate a nationwide action as his estranged CEO father tries to find him before the FBI does. The film simultaneously follows a young woman who works for an animal welfare organization fighting within the system to establish more humane treatment of farmed animals. From abolitionists to welfarists, Bold Native takes on the issue of modern animal use and exploitation from several angles within the context of a road movie adventure story.

The filmmakers’ background in documentary informed the creative approach to Bold Native. Self-financed and shot with a four person team in real-world locations, sometimes using real activists, lawyers, and formerly imprisoned animal liberators, the film weaves an intricate tale of one of the most important issues facing America and the world morally and ecologically – the impact and consequences of industrialized animal use. And with a character who faces prosecution and potential lifetime imprisonment under the recently passed Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA) for property crimes currently considered terrorism, the film also illuminates the danger of corporate interests influencing the law in a post-9/11 world.

FARM needs your help for Meatout 2011

Have you heard about Meatout?

From the official website:
On (or around) March 20, thousands of caring people in all 50 U.S. states and two dozen other countries get active to host educational events for Meatout- the world’s largest grassroots diet education campaign. Activists distribute free food, educate their communities, and ask their friends, families, and neighbors to “kick the meat habit” and explore a wholesome, compassionate diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. More about Meatout.

Register an event and you’ll be provided with free food samples and literature to hand out.

We think it would be neat if a bunch of you registered events in your own towns so that Meatout could happen all over the area, including the Capital Region, Saratoga, Glens Falls and everywhere else!

You don’t have to plan something huge or take a ton of time out of your busy schedule.  Just grab a friend, your free food samples and literature and hit the streets for a little while sharing the deliciousness of veganism!

If you need any help, there are a ton of resources on the Meatout site.  We’re also available to help out with whatever you need.  So go for it!  You know you want to!
